How long did it take for Androgel (testosterone gel) to work? To feel full benefits? Male, using it for low testosterone. 1% gel daily.

unsersmyboy replied: "I'd say about a couple of weeks. "Your doctor should take a blood test to measure your testosterone level about 2 weeks after you start treatment, and may adjust the dose accordingly.""

jimiblueflames replied: "1%? That is a very low dose. If you're not feeling a difference in a couple of weeks I would ask the Doctor if he can up the percentage. He may want to give you a month. Follow the prescription and be patient. It does take a little time, but if you don't notice a difference, the percentage can definetly be raised from what your currently taking."

I need advice or an answer as on testosterone gel and tattoo fading.? I am an artist myself, finding this info is like tryin to find the needles in the haystack. I am on an androgel called Testim 1% ( testosterone 50mg) gel packs to be rubbed into my arms every morning. Here in lies the problem I have half sleeves one is fully done the other needs color, anyone ( artists) ever heard of an androgel or any subQ skin gels fading ink other than the ones in which we dont speak of?

dc49x3 replied: "I don't think its relavent. All your skin does is absorb the gel so for it to fade it actually fade a tat, would mean that the gel has a corrosive and is also damaging your skin. All kinds of skin gels and ointments are meant to be absorbed, unless they cause sensativity then i dont think you have a problem."

Because of my Pituitary gland I need to take many other RX's including Androgel. $500/mo. Any cheaper prices? Androgel is the brand name for the primary 1%, 5mg, BID testosterone gel. Sex is a minor effect of this. It deals more with severe depression, rage, fatigue, bone loss and muscle loss. Short term memory loss.Loss of a feeling of "well-being." I understand the Pharmaceutical co has paid the co.s which produce generics to lower prices, NOT to do so. So they make their profit from NOT making it.

Bees Knees replied: "Insurance is a lot cheaper."

Jayson replied: "Have you tried buying online?"

Jen S replied: "Talk to a compounding pharmacy and see if they can come up with a similar formulation for you that is cheaper. Then see if the doc will give you a script there. I was getting some from a compounding pharmacy, and you may or may not do better there, but they have gels as well. There are also patches as well from the major pharmacy companies. There is also an OTC supplement called DHEA - while it is a precursor hormone made in the adrenals, it can become either estrogen or testosterone - you can also see if upping that can help up your T as well. I vary from getting too much T to none - so I can tell you bodies are strange, but if yours is pretty reliable, you can do well. I do not have adrenals or ovaries - so I need it all. I am panhypopit and I have to take a zillion hormones - patches gels and shots and pills daily too."
