Jin replied: "I have the same problems & Lithium works wonders...."

mylittlehellions replied: "My fiance takes Depakote and Perphenazine and it works good for him. I used to take Seroquel for OCD and Depression and I guess it helped but it made me gain a lot of weight. I didn't even know they still had it cause I have seen commercials saying " if you have taken Seroquel and suffer from whatever whatever whatever then call the law offices of ________". If it isn't helping enough then maybe you should see if your doctor can change it."

L.K. replied: "No one can really answer that. No one is the same. What works for me or someone else may not work for you. Talk to your doctor ask him about what will help you the best. I take Lithium."

Listening Whispers replied: "When I am manic I increase my seroquel (under my pdocs advisement) to a higher dose for a week. It drugs me up a bit more than I like but it does prevent me from having a full blown episode. Everyone reacts different on medications so it's hard to advise you on what else would work. And again dosage is different person to person. where you are already on the seroquel I am pretty sure that's what will help you with the mania. I like seroquel better than risperdol because it helps me sleep, which I need when I am manic. (obviously) I would call your pdoc, and ask about the increase dose of seroquel. And you didn't mention if you are on another mood stabilizer? Maybe get on one in addition to the antipsy. Deep breaths. It will pass. There are no mistakes in tomorrow."

Anglophile replied: "you need a doctor to help you sort this out. I take a cocktail of drugs to keep all syptoms under control."

Single Worker 1230 replied: "Risperadal has been a wonder drug for me. It keeps the mania in check and isn't as sedating as some of the other stuff. Working a job is a part of my therapy as it keeps me out of trouble. If I don't work I could land in jail or dead so I need medication that doesn't cause me to be a zombie. The generic is also affordable for a working person without health insurance."

Stomach flu question? Hi there: After a really bad menstrual period (it was almost a month late and had me seriously PMSing), I got hit with a bout of the stomach flu (got hit with it on Saturday, just as my period was coming to an end). Now, a couple of days later, I am achy all over (especially in my knees) and majorly fatigued and drained of energy, but can't sleep without Seroquel (my doctor-prescribed sleeping medication). Even then I have a hard time falling asleep. Is this normal: the achiness and fatigue? If so, what can I do about it? Advil does nothing for the pain, and I don't know what to do for the fatigue. Please help! And no, I'm not pregnant. I'm not even sexually active, and never have been.

Just curious in Thailand replied: "Some viruses are nasty. Did other people you work with get it too? There are so many possibilities. Don't try to diagnose it on Yahoo Answers."

mompoo replied: "It sounds as though you are sleeping but you aren't getting the RESTFUL sleep that you need. Talk with your dr. about it."

mama_girl_crazy replied: "you're pregrnant the same thing happened to me"

gumdropgirl6 replied: "The stomach flu can cause severe fatigue because it causes serious dehydration. That is, you lose a lot of water when you expel stuff from your GI tract when you're having violent diarrhea and vomiting. The way to get over this is to replenish your body with water and Gatorade. You need both, not one or the other. Get lots of rest. And if you work in foodservice or daycare, stay home from work till you have been okay for 2 or 3 days. If your illness does NOT resovle within 72 hours, thne it was NOT stomach flu. In which case, see the doctor, get a stool sample tested and figure out what it really it."

I'm having trouble sleeping, my mind states are always extreme, what can i do? i've found that i'm only sleepy during the day and when i am it is uncontrollable. im unable to get up for class anymore and i've had to pull over my car a few times because i was too tired to drive. when the night comes around my brain is wired, my thoughts go really fast and i am completely unable to slow it down. without my sleeping medications (seroquel, dont take anymore) i am unable to sleep at night but always able to sleep during the day. i think it has something to do with how engaging the activities are at home compared to at school; but even when i am at home doing the things i do at night during the day i find that i am able to sleep whenever i want. each night i sit in bed from about 12 until 4:30 and then i fade into dreams which dont feel like sleep for about two hours. i have tons of energy but lots of fatigue and my day starts bright and early. my psychiatrist isn't able to help me find an answer. i'm taking prozac, lamictyl, neurontin, and seroquel (been off of it for a while) What might be my problem and how can i go about getting tired at night and awake during the day.

MJ replied: "Are you taking the neurontin at night or in the morning? If you have an am dose, talk to your doctor about switching it to pm. It is known to make you sleepy and dazed. Or it may be that your internal clock has gotten off key. Try staying up and active one night when you can't sleep and stay up and active all that day. You should sleep like a rock that night and have your sleep routine back on track."

David P replied: "Check into a regular Dr. if you need to but you may need to have some sleep studies done to see if you are narcoleptic. It may not be that but I had the same issues and turns out all these years later they discovered I have narcolepsy. Do you have Manic-depression or bi-polar as they now call it? If so that can also cause the same issues."

Want to be more discipline and better wife? I would like to have some advice concerning my marriage. I suffer from bipolar disorder and my husband was extremely supportive. They found the perfect medication for me and I've been doing wonderful since taking them. The only problem is that they make me really tired with no motivation whatsoever. I would love to get to my house prepare a delicious meal for my hubby, clen after that and even now that Im doing it I have to make a tremendous effort. My husband says that it looks like the things that Im doing is without my heart on it. I've gained 20 pounds as a result of Paxil and Seroquel. I feel like my marriage is shaky because of my lack of displine to keep things clean, cook, laundry etc. Please help me....I need to get more organized and learn how to deal with my fatigue. Is it laziness? Serious answers only. Thanks.

dave49310 replied: "Read a book called the five love languages and apply it."

JoCoNoMo replied: "I'm totally with you here and in a similar situation - though not bipolar, I have some serious deep depression and take medications that make me feel like a slug, including the Paxil. Since the meds you're on work, I would not suggest experimenting right now with them. I will suggest, however, that you exercise every day for at least 30 minutes. Find something you like - like the treadmill, or biking, or exercise videos (my choice). Eat right as well. As simple as these two things sound, when you're sluggish from meds it can be like trying to climb Everest. So I suggest these things to you with the full knowledge that it will take a lot for you to be able to exercise and eat right. But trust me, it will make a world of difference."

hahaha replied: "If you have any doubts over the side effects of the medication you're on, talk to your doctor. Bring your husband along so that he can hear from the doctor talk about your condition so that he understands that it's the drugs, not you."

Vitiran replied: "A better wife may mean something different then keeping the house organized. The best way to be a better wife is to support your husband in what he is trying to do to make your lives better. If he wants you to keep the house clean, then by all means continue that. But make sure that's what he wants. Maybe you would get more enthusiasm when you find out that he really would like you to do something else that he finds more supportive (Maybe listening to his plans without judgement, doing the shopping so he doesn't have to). Just ask him. Also, make your activities fun. Listen to some music while cleaning up. Or maybe even listen to your hubby while doing it. Maybe he'll chip in. Good luck."

catwoman replied: "I'm not married, but I will tell you that bipolar disorder can be crippling for the person suffering. What you need is to have supportive people around you who understand the dis-ease and are willing to work through it with you. I don't know how much your husband understands about what you're going through, but it sounds as though he could do with a sit-down and a good talking-to. Medications take time to work and you need to not be so hard on yourself while going through the initial process. Try to give yourself a goal of accomplishing 1 or 2 things on your list a day. Go slow and be easy on yourself. Try to learn as much as you can about bipolar and look for a support group in your area. Good luck and my best wishes are with you. Don't let it get you down and keep you down! BTW: I had very bad experiences w/paxil...lots of side effects and took a long time to get off it. Talk to your doctor about possible alternatives if it becomes a problem. Blessed Be!"

nicole l replied: "pick one room to do in a day or a closet or bathroom i know what your going through been there not bi polar other stuff, any how if you dont look at the whole house and say screw it i cant get motivated one thing at a time them to maintain will be easier and the picture of all this i have to do wont be overwhelming 1 room 2 hrs and then lay back down meals cambel selects are so easy for dinner add chicken and thats it soooo easy get simple things to cook, little by little youll get there and it will be therapy to keep you mind busy good luck"

TokyoGirl replied: "Talk to your doctor about it. Evidently this isn't a perfect medication if it is taking away your motivation & making you tired all the time. Matter of fact, I think it sounds like it's terrible for you. I agree with the others in that you need to get your hubby to come with you to the doctor's office to discuss all of this with the doc & so he can know it's the meds, not you. It takes a while to find a med that works well for you, so don't lose heart & don't settle on something that only takes care of part of the problem & gives you more to deal with. In the meantime, set a schedule for yourself & write it down somewhere. Check things off as you do them. Put fun music in the background. (If you aren't a stay at home wife, talk to your hubby about splitting the chores. You shouldn't have to do all the chores just because you are a woman.) Take walks around your block. Start small with the exercising. If you try to take on too much at once, you run the risk of giving up b/c it looks like it's "too much"."

triminman replied: "You should talk openly with your heath care provider. Tell them your side affects. I personally have no experience with this but I have a friend with a similar situation her first med did nothing, her second worked but left her ghost like and she just never said anything or participated in life. For two and a half years just accepted that was it for her. A lot of us got together and convinced her to talk with her doctor he tried two other meds and finally found the right dose and type she is back and happy aside from being a little agoraphobic (being afraid to get out of her house for extended period of time). anyway I wish you the best. Remember doctors only practice medicine they're just taking highly educated guesses at your treatment and rely on your honest answers and experiences with prescriptions."

bucit replied: "Check into the side effects of your medication and "don't stop seeking alternatives", if it should come down to it. Sometimes, "clinically" what is described as "bi-polar" could be treated in alternative ways ... "Who could really tell you about becoming organized, etc (you can't convince yourself about it, and you want to badly). All the best to you. Good luck."

colgirl replied: "Why isn't your husband doing his share of the housework to help and support you? You aren't his housemaid - get him to cook you a delicious meal - so what if there's a bit of dust on the shelf."

Is it normal for someones muscles to jerk while at rest? Im a 31 year old female. I'll be sitting relaxing and watching tv and my arm muscles will jerk so bad that my whole arm jerks. My other muscles jerk hard too. Right now I have a trembling feeling in my muscles in my right lower arm. I also have on many occasions very strong eye twitches some that have lasted for at least a day or more. When Im in the process of falling asleep, a lot of the time my whole body jerks really hard from muscle contractions causing me to wake up. I don't see anyone else doing this and can't help but wonder if it's Multiple Sclerosis or what. I looked at the website at the symptoms and I have these out of those listed on the website ............. # Weakness # Numbness # Tingling sensations # Balance problems, stumbling # Depression # Fatigue # Bladder problems-- sometimes as soon as I get the urge to go I either have to hurry to get to the bathroom or I don't make it in time. And sometimes I feel like I have to go more frequent than normal. This comes and goes. # Slurred speech my family tells me all the time I mumble and slur when I talk and are always asking me to repeat. #Bowel problems - Just a few years back I have become lactose intollerant from what cause I don't know. I also have noticed memory loss or difficulty concentrating or solving problems. I don't want to go to the dr. if it's all nothing because I don't want to look like a hypochondriac. Just looking for some advice and insight maybe if anyone knows anything about M/S. My meds are as follow... wellbutrin xl 300 mg taking for about 4 years or so. 75 mg of seroquel for 4 years est. .5 mg ativan and 20 mg prilosec for acid reflux ---1 year I drink lots of water too. My muscles have jerked like this since I was a kid but it's getting worse.

R. L. replied: "The twitching you're describing is called myoclonic jerk - it's an involuntary muscle twitch that usually occurs in the state between wakefulness and sleep. Most of the population has experienced at one time or another. The fact that you experience it so often, combined with your complaints of memory loss and difficulty concentrating leads me to believe you either have a definite lack of sleep or even a sleep disorder, like apnea. However, uncontrolled muscle twitch, confusion, and speech problems are also possible side effects of Seroquel. Seroquel can also cause high blood sugar in some patients, which leads to increased thirst and urination. The Ativan can also cause mental fog or confusion. There's probably a 0.000009% chance that you are developing multiple sclerosis, and 99.999991% chance you need to talk to your doctor about the side effects of your medications and possibly alter your dose."

knicname replied: "I was going to ask you if you took meds. The Seroquel can cause your symptoms. Speak to your MD ASAP. You can also eat a banana a day or take supplement for potassium. Take Magnesium 400-600mg daily. It relaxes your muscles. Lactose intolerance is very common as we turn into adults. If you changed the dose of your meds it could cause your symptoms. Are you eating less? That might also cause it. Google: (Seroquel) IBS Irritable Bowel Syndrome is very common with depression. Keep a food diary for 2 weeks & see what triggers your bowel problems. Drink a bit less water. I suggest you see your MD to get over your worry. Good luck"

Feel alone lost I cannot accept what the doctor tells me? I don't know what to do . I been what doctors call having anxiety or panic attacks for the past year since august of 2009 they for some strange reason I been getting them everyday day. I get scared because what my doctor tells me is I have high blood pressure but the reason why is cause I am scared all day. I have 4 kids and it really sucks. Cause they see me sick. I see a counselor and a doctor that gives me meds. But I never take meds I get scared of the warning label when I read it the thing that scares me is me getting I'll like I am waiting for a heart attack or to pass out I first burp allot then want to go poop or throw up. Then I start worrying and after all that I get so tired and fatigue or even sometimes sad. I use to use meth maybe 4 years ago and alcohol but I quit I don't do nothing I changed my diet and started yoga accupanture and books but they don't work fast my question would be why do I worry so much ? I make myself sick always thinking the worst how can I telll the difference or how do I know that I have anxiety if indont feel like I have stress. And why am I so scared of the medications but not drugs or alcohol. ? I hope u can help my mom thinks an ex girlfriend is doing something to me like black magic. I don't know I just feel scared like out of it all the time not enjoying life. Thanks. Medications given to me are seroquel and citalopram hbr 20 mg but I don't take them. I am 31 I guess I go to the emergency and doctors cause I fear that I do have something wrong with me like when they tell me they can't find anything it makes me feel good again. I just can't accept this illness but it seems to get worst I lose my jobs and don't want people around

Brendan replied: "Ok ok ok......you have HIGH anxiety levels, that leads to panic attacks. You need to take the meds, because that's what will prevent you from having a panic attacks. Try deep breathing techniques, and remember the meds for your own good! Many people describe panic attacks as feeling similar to a heart attack, but you have to remember that's not what it is, and if you take the meds, your anxiety levels will go down. Good Luck, Hope I helped : )"

sexi_blonde_chick2008 replied: "iv been diagnosed with GAD which is generalized anxiety disorder. i am currently minoring in psychology. i learned a lot about anxiety disorders. anxiety disorders..all have the same thing in common: avoidance. anxiety isnt easy to deal with by ANY means...but i know where ur coming from..ur worried about everything...but ur not sure why........u probably at one point believed its you...that its who u r..my suggestion...if u feel an anxiety attack coming on...do NOT try to fight it...fighting it makes it worse.. (what my psychology proff said) just learn to relax wen u feel an attack going on..while taking the meds may make u feel better the risk of a heart attack is stopping u from taking them..u never mentioned how old you are. usually the greatest heart attack risk comes in patients that have heart problems already and as far as passing out...if u stand up slowly sit down slowly go from laying down to sitting up slowly (changing positions slowly) then that risk should also be GREATLY decreased. hope i helped :) wish u the best :)"

dizwar replied: "Can you remember what you were doing around the time you started feeling bad? Did you begin to think differently about something as a result of a TV program or a news / magazine article? Was it that someone said something to you and you haven't felt the same way since? Also, you might want to consider seeing a different doctor to get another opinion. Try to find one who specializes in treating anxiety disorders. I hope the following site helps. Best wishes. It doesn't seem so right now, but things will get better."

Sam replied: "Anxiety and stress are two very different things. Anxiety- distress or uneasiness of mind caused by fear of danger or misfortune Stress- physical, mental, or emotional strain or tension One is caused by fear, which is your problem, the other is caused by strain or tension. It sounds like you are suffering from an anxiety disorder. If you are already seeing a doctor and counselor, then you need to DO WHAT THEY SAY. They are trained professionals and are trying to help you, not hurt you. When you go to take your medicine, don't think about the warning label. Have someone keep you accountable. You won't get better by not taking your medicine as prescribed by your doctor. As for black magic, if the medicine won't help, then consider it. But don't just assume you can't do anything about it. If you're tired of your children seeing you this way, then change it. It's difficult, but it's for their livelihood and health, and for yours."

pattyjo1999 replied: "Wow, your question is even scaring me! You are really brave if you've taken speed before - you had four kids, wow, just having four kids around for a while sounds scary to me! I can't say for sure, but I bet that focussing on your fear is making you doubt yourself and imagine bad things. Sometimes it's normal to feel like crap - it will go away! I panic a lot, and I know that one beer a day seems to help. Two is not better, though! Once I'm down off the walls I go to Google videos and use the Deep Meditation Experience videos (search deep meditation experience). While they are on I tell myself this: " I do as many right things as I can. I do good things all the time, then I rest in the knowledge of having done them. It's the best I can do." It's faster than a trip to the shrink. (God bless you!)"

MeAgain replied: "Being frightened to take your medication is really rather common with people who have anxiety. We don't seem to have much of a problem self medicating and think that is because we usually start or do them with other people. It's not like people with panic hang out and take medication together. Those warning labels are horrible but, what is on the warning label is suppose to be anything that might possibly happen to anyone. Anxiety and panic are disorders that cause us to feel overwhelming fear for no reason, that is what the medication is for. It's a hard disorder to have, I know because I have had it for many years. One trick I found that helped me was to start on the medication by taking it every other day, I got this suggestion from my doctor. Once you start to feel the difference you won't be frightened of the medication. No black magic here, it's just how this disorder is."

johnjohntheleprechaun replied: "You are not alone. I have been dealing with extreme anxiety and depression for a long time. You need to take the medication. As scary as it may be to do you need to take them. I was reluctant to take medications at first as well but when my anxiety got really bad I figured how much worse could it get and I'm glad that I took the medication. It has helped reduce my anxiety."

i ♥ hershey ♥♥♥♥♥ replied: "you've gone to the doctors & received medication & are fearful of them??? Then why go??You are hypertensive & don't take that medicine either? I guess leaving Your 4 kids motherless is your goal?? You definitely have some anxiety but you also have to help yourself♦"

Son replied: "My wife had panic attack almost 5 years. Really painfull and depressed if you not find the right method to get rid of it. It will turn to anxiety when it get worse. Maye that will help If you have used this method, let me know how your thinking and how it work on you. Hope you feel better and be happy with your family."

Can repeatedly going on and off medication cold turkey multiple times cause permanent complications? long story short, i didnt think anything was wrong wtih me and was constantly on and off my cymbalta 60 and seroquel 400. multiple times, but same with the invega lexapro xanax ativan and other meds i cant remember. One thing i have now is a very bad twitch, high blood pressure, and headaches, and most, fatigue. Could this have been caused by going on and off of the meds so many times cold turkey? what else can happen from going cold turkey too much? anything? thanks

John D replied: "I believe so, then again I am not really qualified to answer this."

BallbaggDeSakker replied: "Hi there,it is very possible that what you are feeling are the effects of stopping and starting your meds,is it wise for you to be regulating your own medication because of the type of medication that you are on it is unsafe to take them the way that you are, would it not be better for you to see your doctor and let him decide that for you.however that said use the click here link bellow this will give you some more information and hopefully help you somewhat with your question."

ReggieR replied: "HEY GABE-It's Reggie, how's life going? Stopping SSRI and anti anxiety medications can cause issues, but I'm not sure what you mean by Permanent. I know that going off meds without titrate them can cause problems and thoughts of suicide. As you already know changing drugs without a doctor advise and guidance is always our mental illness talking. You are a smart guy why do silly things. Stay on the meds. God Bless Reggie"

How is the drug Abilify? I'm 14. I'm diagnosed with bipolar disorder type 2, and generalized anxiety disorder. I have had a visual hallucination, and suffer from paranoia. I'm really not that bad off though. Mainly just anxiety and major depression. Anyway, I'm on Depakote and Seroquel. I've heard that Depakote leads to pretty bad long term health effects. After starting these meds, they found fat in my blood (when they took my blood, fat actually separated in the tube, it was sick). I hate the side effects. My balance now sucks, I'm always kind of out of it, I'm always dizzy and fatigued, I sleep extremely late, I can't concentrate so well (I couldn't before either), I'm kind of confused all the time, I get heat flashes, I'm hungry more, my vision is slightly blurred, and sometimes I slur my words and can't say anything right. I also can't like absorb things anymore, things just hit my brain and fall off. Before I was on meds, I could absorb so much, and I'm so smart, but now I have to study 3 times harder. My aunt is bipolar also, she takes Abilify and Cymbalta, and she's great now. I'm going to ask my psychiatrist to try them on me Wednesday, and something for my anxiety too (its pretty bad). How are these drugs? Especially Abilify. I'm very curious.

lil bit replied: "I have had major Depression and Anxiety for 19 years and Abilify has worked the best for me. I was having residual depression that manifested in very low energy/fatigue as well as obssessive worries. Abilify helped tremendously with these problems so I highly recommend the medication"

Genni replied: "I was on Abilify two years ago. My psychiatrist took me off of it because it didn't seem to be having any effect. About Half of the people I've talked to have said differently. I'd recommend trying it out for a few months and see if you notice a change."

spfan50311 replied: "I take Abilify for schizoaffective disorder, and so far it's been the only antipsychotic that I can tolerate. It doesn't cause me to oversleep any more than I normally do, and it doesn't worsen my depressive symptoms at 5 mg (the biggest problem that I have with most medications is that they tend to make me feel more depressed). Abilify is less sedating than other antipsychotics like Seroquel because it doesn't completely block dopamine receptors. Instead, it stimulates dopamine receptors, but to a lesser extent than the dopamine molecules themselves. Also, it doesn't block serotonin, acetylcholine, or histamine receptors like some of the other antipsychotics do. You mentioned that depression and anxiety are the two symptoms that bother you the most, so if you're looking for an antipsychotic or mood stabilizer, Abilify would probably be the best one to try. Seroquel is approved for the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder, but Abilify has antidepressant properties and has been approved for the add-on treatment of depression. So, if you're looking for something that won't leave you too fatigued and confused that's also indicated for bipolar disorder, Abilify seems to be a good medication to try. Unfortunately, I do have some side effects on Abilify. One is a tremor that mainly affects my hands. Another is restlessness, but this side effect has become less severe with time. When I first started Abilify, I could hardly sit still and used to want to pace around all the time, but now the restlessness usually just manifests itself in me shaking my leg when I'm sitting down. These side effects aren't the easiest to tolerate, but I'll take them over increased depression, sedation, irritability, or increased psychosis, which I've experienced on other medications."

Vernazza replied: "I asked for myself about Ambilify, but the doc said no, cos it's really not good for patients with anxiety.I have GAD. It sounds like you might be taking actualy too much Seroquel, I take it too, and omg, I love it, it makes me sleep at night, (most of the time), and generaly calms me during the day. However, many Dr.'s give ya too much. I take 25mg, 3-4 times a day, (sometimes I skip and I am fine), and 50mg at night. I tok Depakote, but liked Neurontin, much better, believe me. BUT, ever better than that, is Lexapro... oh my god, incredable stuff- 20mg at night. The anti anxiety in that pill is totally amazing. So ask about Lexapro and maybe lowering your Seroquel, and screw the Dep. I am 6 months on, and hope I am never taken off these."

Why am I so unmotivated & unenergetic? I'm not really sure where to post this. I don't know how to describe this to my psychiatrist and I need help. I need to be productive and I am not. I have been on Effexor XR for years (eight), my current dosage is 300mg. I want to get off of it bc I have not been motivated like I used to be before 2001. My brain is constantly fatigued and I am constantly lazy & unmotivated. I DO NOT feel depressed or suicidal at the present time. I have been diagnosed with several psychiatric conditions: GAD, Clinical Depression, ADHD - Inattentive & Cluster C - Avoidant Personality Disorder. I don't feel like showering, eating, cleaning my home, going outside for any reason/leaving my apartment, etc. I don't know why. Any help would be appreciated. Suggesting exercise is like telling a crackhead to just quit. Thanks, but it needs me to be motivated to just clean myself & eat, before I could even workout.
