what is the explanation behind the prescription of metformin drug 500 mg before breakfast and after dinner ? my husband is taking medications, a Glimepiride Metformin 500 mg before breakfast and Metformin, I-Max 500 mg after dinner. may i know the difference between the two drugs? What is the explanation of the dosage before breakfast and after dinner ?

Concerned about max dosage of clomid? I went for a transvaginal ultrasound this past week to check if there was any matured follicles formed.They spotted 2 follicles which was still immature but they ranged from 9 and 10 mm. I know follicles has to be at least 18-20 mm. I was previously on 150 mg of clomid,1000 mg of metformin and a HCG injection to help release a those follicles. I'm up to 1500 mg of metformin, 200 mg of clomid. My RE mentioned it was perfectly safe to take 200 mg(which is my last dose) but I was told 150 mg was the highest a woman could take. If next month does not make good follicles,I will have to be on daily injections to help mature my eggs. Has anyone experience this higher dosage to conceive? I've tried diet-watching my carb intake and exercise. Guido.Dont answer this question unless you can give a good answer..no pun intended

~Carolina Gurl~ replied: "My Dr says that he doesn't give any more than 150mg of clomid! That is the Max dosage! Also he doesn't recommend using Clomid for more than 12 months in a life time. I don't get that one. Also can only take it for 6 months at a time. Good luck!"

sarah jane replied: "I went up to 250 mg of Clomid, with no bad effects. I didn't get pregnant, but I did ovulate. I wouldn't worry about it as long as it is limited to a few months- certainly no more than three."

Mumma L replied: "I suffer from PCOS and was put on Metformin and Clomid to stimulate my ovaries. Clomid wasn't strong enough so I was put on daily injections of FSH which required a transvaginal ultrasound every 2 days to see if it was providing enough stimulation of my ovaries. The dosage of injections were then increased etc. depending on the results. Once mature follicles were present I was given HCG injection to release them. We did this for 3 cycles which included IUI and on our last cycle before signing up for IVF we conceived our son!"
