Any Paxil horror stories? I would like to get YOUR Paxil horror stories that I will use in aid of a class action lawsuit I am starting with my lawyer (a prominent medical lawyer in my area) to not only have this drug removed, but perhaps have some sort of compensation to the tens of thousands of people adversely affected by this drug. Please tell me your story. I like doctors Snapple. Its the drug company that I am bringing the suit against. Thank you for the link Cookies

annie red replied: "Simple story. The drug worked great, except for the 85 pounds in 18 months that I put on and have not been able to keep off since."

Snapple replied: "And you wonder why doctors charge so much. They get sued every time the results aren't perfect. That's the risk you take when you consume drugs. The doctor was educated with the knowledge these drugs would work. They didn't. Not his fault. He wanted to satisfy his patients. Give them a break...they aren't the only ones who make mistakes."

MilleniumPROOOOOOOOOOOOO replied: "I dont take that garbage but I have heard of people getting jerks through their nervous system when quitting it. I think that there is already a class action suit....Maybe next time dont take experimental drugs."

Cookies4U replied: "Paxil Side Effects - please read I am not a big fan of the FDA. Bloggers lets band together and let the truth out about Paxil. Please link to this Paxil side effects page using "Paxil side effects" in the link so we can get this message out. Here is an alarming email about Paxil side effects that I was given today. I started Paxil about 8 weeks ago. After 1 week I started to experience headaches and zapping. Not knowing that it was Paxil, could cause this situation I went to my medical Dr. and he took blood test, UA, and had a Ct Scan/contrast. Everything came back normal. I decided on 10/7/03 to take myself off Paxil, thinking that nothing could be worse than what I was going through. Well I was wrong; I started going through withdrawal and that is pure hell. I not only still have the headaches and zapping but I am now feeling anxiety, irritable, fatigue, tremors, vertigo, nausea and numerous other symptoms of withdrawal. The nightmares are terrible and so are the hot flashes that I also experienced while taking the medication. I am furious and discussed that my Psychiatrist put me on such a drug that is so addicting and causing so many problems. I am an Alcohol/Drug counselor and had never been addicted to any Alcohol or drugs before in my life. To seek out help for a stressful time in my life and to be put on such a dangerous drug such as Paxil. It appears that I am damned if I stay on it and damned if I go off has me feeling outrageous and angry, not only at the company that put this drug out but also for my Dr. not to tell me the effects or that I would have withdrawal symptoms if I came off. Well I am coming off and I will not be weaned off like so many others it will be cold turkey for me. To me to say that you need to be weaned off is no different than giving someone methadone to get them off heroin. Using one drug to offset another or taking less of a drug at a slower pace, one will never be off and only keep going back to help deter the effects of withdrawal. 4 days now for me and I will fight and get back my sanity. It is now day eight since I took myself off Paxil. I still have the headaches but they are finally easing up. The zapping is getting worse and the whoosh noise is still there. I have been experiencing the following withdrawal symptoms along with the above. Vertigo, tremors so bad I was beating up myself, nightmares when I finally do fall asleep, irritable, insomnia, nausea, diarrhea, lack of concentration, fearful, anxiety, depression, crying uncontrollably, anger, frustration, heart palpitation, dizziness, flu symptoms, weakness, disoriented and chills. I am wondering what is next. I talked to the FDA today also. Surprising they returned my call. I only wish that I had taped the conversation. The following is part of the conversation I had with them. The person I talked to stated that they don't feel that Paxil is addictive because it doesn't carry the behavior of a person that is dependent on a drug. A person that will go out and steal to obtain their drug of choice or cause harm to another. I explained since I am an Alcohol/Drug counselor that any drug that will cause a person to have withdrawal symptoms especially the ones I stated above that the drug is defiantly an addictive drug and any other term is not going to satisfy the public. I also stated that any SSRI is used to enhance the seritonin in ones body and that doctors need to test to find out if ones seritonin level is low in which they need to enhance. If a person does not have a low seritonin level than these drugs can and do cause more problems for an individual. Doctors aren't given all the facts with prescribing these types of meds and need to do some more studies to make sure others aren't harmed like myself and many of you who are writing in. The one thing all can do is get this advertising stopped that Paxil is not addictive or habit forming. Lets start flooding the lines and start calling the FDA and the dept that handles complaints about advertising Paxil. Please call and tell them your story. The advertising section of FDA is (301) 827-2828. Also fill out the Medwatch form and also call FDA at 1-800-FDA 1088 press 0 or call (301) 443-1240. Lets ban together and get Glaxo-Smith Kline to admit the truth about these effects and to get them to stop lying that it is not addictive or habit forming. Also do your own memory recall as to any symptoms you felt while being on the Paxil or any SSRI. Tell the people at the FDA if you experienced any zapping, whooshing noise, headaches (And how severe they were, Hot flashes or anything else that you may have experienced while being on Paxil. The FDA is basically only hearing about the withdrawals and nothing about peoples experience on the Paxil. Lets speak and fight for our rights and the rights of the future. please spread the word about Paxil side effects by linking to this page using the following code. I had the zapping of my face mainly, vertigo, nausea, visual disturbances, lack of concentration, nightmares, palpitations and I actually thought that I was having mini seizures. This drug is the most awful thing anyone can do for onself. mcarranza on December 4, 2003 12:08 PM I have only been taking Paxil CR for about 4 mths, the only side effect I can say I experinced from taking the drug was excessive yawning and going from having a very healthy sex drive to having none at all. Right before the Christmas Holidays, my precription ran out and I decided not to worry about it because my husband thinks that the drug was effecting our sex life (I have no sex drive anymore) so I told him I would stop taking it to see if it worked and besides I couldnt get it filled because my doctor's office is closed due to the holidays. I have been 4 days without the drug, I have started having real bad headaches, chills (no fever) and feeling dizzy while I am sitting down! Tunnel vision, my whole body itches and the nausea is so bad.. I also found myself getting VERY ANGRY over nothing today, I almost hurt my little boy today! So I decided to go online to see if my NOT taking the paxil was the problem, BOY WAS I AMAZED!! I am so MAD at my doctor for putting me on this drug. The drug actually helped with the problems I was having to cause me to take the drug, angry outburst, road rage, depression, ect. Now I know it is the withdrawels from this drug that is causing me to feel this way, the withdrawels are horriable! From what I have read tonight, I am not so sure if I should quit taking the drug. My symtoms are only going to get worse. I only wish I would have asked more questions about this drug before I started taking it. I am really scared. Please advise me of what I should do, thank you for your time Cindy on December 26, 2003 11:44 PM I am glad I read this. I had very bad side effects while I was taking it and now that I stopped taking it, it is even worse. Damian on February 2, 2004 10:19 PM the dr put me on effexor i stayed sick could not eat so not he put me on lexapro i have not takin it yet because of all the side aff i was thinkin about paxil what do you think about paxil? Debbi on February 3, 2004 8:33 AM Paxil and most anti-depressants are well known for having withdrawl effects. If you had spoken to your physician about coming off of this drug or any other drug, he/she would have recommended weaning off. Even a pharmacist would do the same. It is bizarre to me that a supposed Alcohol/Drug Counselor would not know this. If a person had been drinking for months or years on end and they suddenly stopped drinking, they would suffer from withdrawl. I am not necessarily a supporter of Paxil, but please also be aware that all drugs have side-effects. And, different people suffer differently. YouShouldKnow! on February 5, 2004 2:17 AM I agree with what you say. The problem is that in our society "good drugs" and "bad drugs" are painted in an entirely different light. When you see the end of a Zoloft commercial it states "Zoloft is not habit forming." There are millions of dollars pushing the sales of Paxil and other drugs like it. SSRIs such as Paxil are known to cause problems. Now we are also pushing so less fine print needs to be given. depression blog on February 5, 2004 2:56 AM i sure am glad to read your site! i was considering going off paxil-cr due to the sexual side effects, but now i do not know what is worse: having no sexual desire or suffering all the side effects that i just read! i am also very upset that my physician did not mention this to me. i wanted to consider wellbutrin-xl or serzone. i do not know now. thanks for listening... jena on February 7, 2004 12:49 PM I had taken paxil 20mg for two years for panic disorder. The only side effects I experienced were dry mouth, throat tightness, and slight weight gain. These subsided after adjusting to this medication. I decided to taper of to 10mg and eventually stop altogether. I felt fine and hadn't experienced a panic attack for a year and a half. Withdrawal was moderate to severe and eventually overcame the malaise after four to five days. I managed fine for six months without paxil, but questioned how long it takes for paxil to completely leave your body. I pondered this because sexually my orgasms were still delayed. Around the six month this delay began to disappear as if I was back to normal sexually. This is when I began to feel chest tightness, tremors, weight loss, fatigue, dizziness, etc... How quickly do side effects show up when starting Paxil? I am going to stop taking fluoxetine, which is generic prozac, to Paxil. After reading endless horror stories about Paxil I want to get a different prescription. I have been recomended to ease up to 40 mg's of Paxil within roughly 12 days since that was the dosage I was on with Fluoxetine. I don't want to stop cold turkey but want to know how long before the possible wrath of Paxil side effects start. Thanks for the info everyone. But how soon should side effects be expected to show up? After one dose? After 3 days? I'm sure everyone has different experiences but how soon did you notice the side effects for you?

girk_420 replied: "I used to take paxil and it can be very great well except for within the first week to a month... but if you can make it through that your all good... just when taking paxil do not forget to take a dose of it. missing a dose will realy screw you up."

Jackie H replied: "I was on paxil for many years and I will tell you it is NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO GET OFF OF IT!! Going on it, your body feels like when your foot is waking up after falling asleep. This lasts for several weeks. And once you are on full strength the headaches start if you miss even one dose. And it just gets worse from there (nightmares, nightsweats etc..). The only way I was able to get off paxil after many tries was to switch to zoloft. Over about a three week span, I weaned off the paxil while I weaned on to the zoloft. You may want to ask for zoloft instead. I'm so glad I switched."

gangadharan_nair replied: "Please see the web pages for more details on Paroxetine (generic name) Paxil (brand name)."

frederick t replied: "For me it took a while for side effects to show up. I DO NOT LIKE PAXIL. I will not take it again. I was OK for about a year or so but then my ex and I started noticing I didnt make decisions well and then I started to feel "evil" and have bad thoughts....NEVER acted on anything but I did not like how I felt on it. I stopped it cold turkey and went on Zoloft. Zoloft is MUCH better than Paxil."

XrrX replied: "side effect may show up after 5-7 days sometimes it takes longer. But generally serious side effect of AD will come after 2 weeks. Dont worry much about the side effect. Any drug has its cost but the effect is counted"

While on paxil can you get used to the dose and get side effects while on it? I have been taking 20 mgs. for 3 months and for the last 2 days have had these strange headaches behind my eyes and nausea. I am wondering if you can get used to the dose of paxil your on and start having some withdrawal effects even though your still on it. I refuse to increase my dose after reading all the horror stories of withdrawal. I know sometimes with other meds your body becomes used to a certain dose and you need to increase it to have it work. Has this happened to anyone else on Paxil? It really works well for my panic attacks. Any help?? I am so embarressed...I realized what was going on....I was in a hurry yesterday when I took my meds (I take a daily aspirin and my paxil) I had something else in my purse and I wasn't paying attention and I took my aspirin and something else by accident. Anyway I skipped my paxil all together yesterday and realized it today and I took it today. I quess it was a bit of withdrawal. Can you have withdrawal from not taking it for one day??? Thanks so much for you answers.

mimegamy replied: "I had a tough time adjusting to Paxil and a hard time when I quit taking it but never a problem while on it."

C Sunshine replied: "Most meds have some type of side effects, that affect certain people. There also are horror stories of all sorts with many many more meds than just Paxil. First off, your body can get used to a medication, but you won't have withdrawal from it. Usually a person need more to feel its benefits. If it is really working for your panic attacks, what does your doctor say about the pain behind your eyes? Yes, Paxil can cause headaches and eye pain. (some of many side effects). I would suggest contacting your doctor's office. They may recommend staying on it longer, to see if those side effects eventually go away. Zoloft and many other medications are also used for panic attacks. If you've tried them all, and none have worked... if you have exhausted all alternatives... try prayer. Pray with someone of great faith. It has helped my friend. Good luck and God bless."

wellness replied: "Side effects are possible when taking paxil. You should follow your doctor's instructions for taking the medicine. Since paxil does seem to be working for you, continue to take your prescription. You should tell your doctor about the side effects you have been experiencing as well as your withdrawal concerns. Hope this helps."

dreaming_angel1983 replied: "I had a similar affect when I was on venlafaxine. At the moment I'm on paroxetine and haven't had that, although I've only been on it for a few weeks. If you are worried, speak to your doctor."

Ms Clee Taurus replied: "I had some similar problems when I took Effexor. It was helping me in some ways, but then making life difficult in others. I gave it a couple of months, but I just decided my body didn't like it, so I tried Paxil/Aropax, and that worked well with me. There are plenty of different meds out there, it's just a pain in the butt to find the right one - but it is worth it! Good luck x P.S. RE: withdrawal, as long as you go off your meds as slow as possible, and in a time of your life when it's not as stressful e.g. moving house, you should be ok. Yeah, it's no fun, so maybe pick a weekend for the first few days, but most people I think don't have it that bad! Remember, there are horror stories for absolutely EVERYTHING!"

Natalya replied: "The headaches and sickness could be due to something totally different, and should certainly be investigated. They could be migraines, which could be triggered by something you're eating: chocolate, cheese and other dairy foods are prime culprits. It's possible that you need to see an eye specialist; perhaps you have bad eye strain; that can cause headaches. If the Paxil has been fine for three months, I don't think you should assume that's what's causing these new problems - do go and see your doctor."

my roomate woke up from a dream making a blood curdling scream It was like a horror film? its scared the daylights out of me....I wonder if the stress she is going thru is coming out in her dreams...She is also on Paxil and has been for over 5 years ..first time this has happened....is this something to be concerned about?

Purpose replied: "No. But as a woman, do you think you can do that ???"

Breanne replied: "Yes. Not only will it effect her sleep, but yours also"

FATALITY!!! replied: "buy ear plugs hopefully the next time, you have some protection."

formalintroduction replied: "ask her! ask if you could help her in any way or if there is anything you should be concerned about for her. God Bless."

Paxil (anxiety/depression medicine)? OKAY. I am seventeen years old and suffer from anxiety/depression. My doctor prescribed me Paxil and I have been taking it for one week. Before, I REFUSED to take medicine because I was recently on Lexapro and it caused me to have hysteria, but my anxiety has gotten so bad I felt like I had little options. I started taking the drug with little knowledge of the horror Paxil has caused other people and I would like some advice on what I should do. I want to stop taking it because I don't want the side effects that may or may not happen but it might ease my anxiety. I asked my family what I should do and everyone said to wait it out, but I fear irreversible effects. Any suggestions/ stories on Paxil?

Fred W replied: "This is a great course/product which helped me basically CURE myself of anxiety/panic attacks and stop them for good, check it out below: I highly recommend it, good luck."

poisonous_tree_frog replied: "Personally I love Paxil, I never had a problem stopping it cold turkey either. As far as anxiety the only way to truly get over it is to work through it and face what ever it is causing the anxiety. If you don't know what is causing it yet, keep a journal with you to write how you feel in different places doing different things. Once you figure it out you can acclimate yourself to the situation and not be anxious over it any more."

E R replied: "It's very common for people to fear medicine when it comes to panic. Paxil was the first medication I took for it and it helped me quite a bit. The only side effects I ever had were a little bit of blurred vision on the morning, that was it. Paxil is NOT going to cause some irreversible effects. I know it's hard to just take the medicine, but if you are that concerned over it, split the pills in half and take that for 2 weeks, then move to the whole pill and that will lessen the effects. I doubt the Lexapro was actually causing your hysteria as much as it was you thinking and worrying yourself into hysteria. If you want my advice .5 mg of klonopin would be what I suggest. I went from being totally house bound to out and about and working full time within about a year and a half. Stop talking yourself into panic about the medicine. They don't cause the attacks... and don't read the side effects. If ONE single person complains about it, they have to list it so it's highly unlikely that you will have any of them. Just do it."

Nashvegas replied: "I took Paxil for about 6 months for depression. It made me feel kind of like a zombie but a functional zombie if you know what I mean...almost emotionless. I had no bad side effects from it at all. I took it every morning and the only problem I had with Paxil was that when I went out, if I drank a beer or 2, I wouldn't remember a thing the next day. I never drank more than 2 or 3 beers but I'd black out. I only did that a time or 2 before I figured out I couldn't drink AT ALL and take Paxil."

Jade M replied: "Paxil takes about 6-8 weeks to reach it's full effect so wait it out a bit. I took Paxil for about a 1.5 years for situational depression. The side effects that I experienced were flu-like symptoms. I almost stopped taking it for this reason but the symptoms did clear up. Paxil did help my depression. My son takes Paxil for OCD; he can't function without it. He never had any side effects starting the drug. My husband also takes Paxil for mood and he never had any side effects either. Continue taking your medication as prescribed, report any physical or mood changes to your doctor if they occur. Do not stop taking the medication without your doctor's knowledge. Do not stop taking the medication suddenly. It should be stopped by gradual reduction in dosage."

Cymbalta and Paxil cause weight gain? I am currently on 60mg of Cymbalta and did not gain any weight I am not on 12.5 of Paxil as well.. i am reading all of these horror stories about hwo Cymbalta or Paxil have caused weight gain for some people and i am really scared:( is this true?

MH replied: "Both of these drugs are SSRIs, which are less commonly associated with weight gain than other classes of anti-depressants. Weight gain can be a side effect, though, particularly of Paxil. It depends on your body chemistry. Some people will, and some people won't. Continuing to eat healthy and be active can help prevent some of the gain associated with using medication. If you're really concerned, talk to your psychiatrist."

Maria G replied: "Side effects that you should report to your doctor or health care professional as soon as possible: * allergic reactions like skin rash, itching or hives, swelling of the face, lips, or tongue * black or bloody stools, blood in the urine or vomit * fast, irregular heartbeat * hallucination, loss of contact with reality * painful or prolonged erection (men) * seizures * suicidal thoughts or other mood changes * trouble passing urine or change in the amount of urine * unusual bleeding or bruising * unusually weak or tired * vomiting Side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report to your doctor or health care professional if they continue or are bothersome): * change in appetite, weight * change in sex drive or performance * constipation or diarrhea * difficulty sleeping * drowsy * headache * increased sweating * muscle pain or weakness * tremors"

has paxil made anyone lose weight? I hear horror stories about paxil making you gain a ton of weight. I have been on for a few days, and it seems to curb my appetite..anyone have any thoughts? --what makes you gain weight on Paxil? The sleepiness, lack of motivation, increase in appetite?

sciontcgrl replied: "When I first started taking it I lost about 15lbs. I was really excited but then I leveled out and got back up to my normal weight. I haven't gained anymore but I didn't get to stay at the slimmer me either."

Girl_Next_Door replied: "I've heard that 9 out of 10 people gain weight on Paxil. Paxil may work fine for you, though. If not, there are many other options out there. One more thing I failed to mention .... my brother has been taking Paxil for a few months now, and it has helped him TREMENDOUSLY. Any SSRI you take will have some sort of side effects. I guess you have to determine which side effects you can handle, and which you cannot handle. Check out this website for patient feedback on Paxil. The site also has info on other SSRI's, if you're interested: Hope Paxil works for you, with minimal weight changes."

his_scarlett_ohara replied: "uggghhhh. stay away from that mess! after your body gets used to it, you will be "zombie like" with no "pazzazz" in you! Plus, it makes your sex life awful. You won't have ANY kind of libido and you can't.....well, you can't "O" as easily."

orchid2800 replied: "anything Man made (pills and processed food)is toxic for the human body"

booboo replied: "no, when i took it way back when, i lost ALOT of weight. i stop taking them and then i gain the weight im now on Zoloft and Birth control patch(evra) and i have lost about 35lbs, seriously. and ive been on the for 2 months and keep lossing the weight and me naturally i am a tiny person but not this small"

Decembersnow replied: "I gained 40 lbs over 6yrs on Paxil I lost 40lbs over a year since I have been off Paxil."

I was prescribed Paxil, someone help? i've read lots of horror stories about paxil. i've had though lots of panic attacks...i went to the night clinic and told the doctor about my getting scared and paniking for no reason and he sensed i had anxiety attacks. he prescribed paxil 10 mg. can i take aspirin with paxil? what side effects have you had with paxil? when does it start to work? i have 30 pills.

Sar replied: "yes you can take aspirin with paxil, there is just an increased risk of GI bleed with that or any NSAID (which is relatively rare) Most of the side effects are mild: some drowsiness, diarrhea/upset stomach, headache (common with most meds) Most of the SSRI's take a bit to start working, it may take up to 4-8 weeks to notice it's full effects. But its a great drug for anxiety so give it a chance!"

JohnJohn replied: "I was prescribed and took Paxil 20mg for 6 years. It worked very well for my social anxiety. It takes about two weeks for it to take full effect. You honestly dont really notice anything and one day you will realize you haven't been very anxious for some time! It's cool. I personally had no side effects and took OTC pain meds like asprin, motrin with no problems at all. The only difficulty was getting off of it. If you just quit taking it you will notice withdrawls, feelings of being light headed or overwhelmed, hard to explain, but just make sure you slowly ween off when it's time to quit taking it. But overall very pleased with how it helped!"

Jess replied: "Fear is not knowing what ot expect and you have every right to know what's going to happen and to be reassured that whatever the doc gives you is going to work without having to suffer sid effects that can create another problem you don't need. The Doc should be aware of all the side effects of any drug he prescribes because you don't want to become a test case just so he can gain some experience of the side effects through trial and error. I personally at 69 don't take man-made drugs, medication, or dope over or under the counter. There's so much information out there about good health and confusion that it can turn your brains into jello.but there is a good website you can go to that will tell you the truth about good health that you need to know. "knowledge saves lives ignorance kills""

Mina replied: "I'm glad that you went to you doctor about your panic, that's the first step. Any "horror stories" you've heard about Paxil, well you can forget them right now. Although all medications have risks of side effects, severe side effects only happen VERY rarely. I was on paxil for a period of time and did not experience any side effects, and many, many people have had the same thing happen. Over the counter painkillers, such as asprin, are safe to take with Paxil. Most psychiatric medications take between 2-8 weeks to fully work. You may start feeling better after a week, it may take a couple months, the important thing is to take your medication like the doctor prescribed."

Anyone been weaned off Paxil? I am supposed to drop from 20mg to 10mg the next two weeks. I heard horror stories of Paxil withdrawl. Anyone have any happy stories? Can you tell i am an anxiety patient? lol!! :)

alice u replied: "If you have anxiety why are you being took off,I was on the paxil for 14 months and it was bad but i just stopped if you do it right it will work out for you!!Just do it right feel anything weired then tell your Doctor!!!"

lane p replied: "As long as it's done slowly there should not be a problem. If you notice anything different be sure to contact your Dr. I had no problems at all."

andrea m replied: "my sister has been on paxil for 7 years because she can't get off of it. everytime she tries she gets weird zapping sensations in her head, and she feels sick.she's not technically addicted to it, just dependant because she feels if she stops all together, she'll suffer undesirable affects. sorry it's not a happy story, but i'm her twin sister and i was on it, and quit cold turkey no problem."

Dude replied: "All anti-depressant meds should be tapered off slowly and under the supervision of your doctor. Typically, they will start to drop your dosage and then hold for a week, then drop and hold for a week, then every other day, then every 2 days, then every 3rd day and then stop. Any signs of anxiety and depression during your weaning period is a symptom of the weaning and not necessarily that your depression or anxiety are coming back. You will be fine if you do it slowly, it may take 2 months to fully wean, and that is fine."

maximillianp replied: "Without being an expert on this, I'd suggest that it is too big a jump, and I know I would make it 15mg, in 4 weeks, then 10mg, in another 4 weeks. Set yourself a fixed limit for worrying about any particular subject, (say; 15 minutes) after which, resolve firmly to refuse to even consider that subject again on that day: realise and accept that to do otherwise would be counterproductive to your mental health, and enjoyment of life. Use the technique for reprogramming negative thoughts and internal monologue (self talk), on pages 2, and 2L, to help you in this: some people carry a wide rubber band in their pocket: put it on their wrist; stretch, and release, as a means of reinforcing it, and speeding up the process, re-pocketing it afterwards, but I regard this as being purely optional. Practice one of the relaxation methods on pages 2, 11, 2c, or 2i, daily, and when needed. Also, give the EFT a good tryout, to see if it helps you. There is also a version for use in public places, (if you like, you can claim to have a headache, as you massage/lightly tap your temples, but you would then be restricted to subvocalising: saying it to yourself in your mind). michial1212 replied: "Paxil does cause withdrawals. Just try to remember that the withdrawals eventually go away."

♥Jessica♥ replied: "I have but it was a couple of years ago. Nothing bad happens, and you will be perfectly fine. Don't always believe what you hear. Good luck!"

Is there anyone on here that is on Paxil and scared of all ? the horror stories you hear??? I've been on 10mg for 2.5 years and I am always scared when I hear stories.... What to believe?

The Lady replied: "Machelle - I think I was one of the lucky ones, I started Paxil while it was still the wonder drug. And it was for me. At that point I was not hearing all the quirks nor did I even know about side effects. I took it about four years and then went off it. I always discontinue with the help of my doctor and very slow. I had no problems. I went back on it a couple of years later and was on two years and still okay. I am back on it now. The moral of my story is that its a good medicine if you need it. Yes, some people have had problems with it and many have not. We all react differently to all medications and some people do have reactions to Paxil, just as people have reactions and problems with all meds. Withdrawal is sometimes a problem but I have learned to take as long as you need to withdrawal even if that means cutting down to slivers, going back up a bit if you have problems, staying on a low dose for as long as you need and always working with your doctor. If you have been on it at that low dose for 2.5 years and it is helping you then you are probably one of the ones who it works for. Don't listen to stories on the internet as long as it is working for you."
