What should my first upgrade on my stock 2007 Honda ap2 S2000 ? Give me a list of upgrades in order that you think i should get. or just an upgrade you would get.

truck_guy_2006 replied: "A for sale sign."

Nikki C replied: "1. Intake 2. Header 3. Exhaust 4. Hondata Goodluck!"

martianpug replied: "Hawk HP+ brake pads. A stiffer suspension. Good tires."

FM g replied: "A body graphic. cold intake, exhaust and body kit and a drill slot rotor."

AE101Supreme replied: "The S2000's air volume entering and exiting the car is rather restrictive, so getting an open-ended air intake, headers and catback exhaust is recommended in order to let the car breathe more freely. Next up would be to upgrade the clutch to a stage 1 or stage 2 setup, for quicker delivery to the ground. I believe the Neuspeed clutches are more than capable of doing the job. Next would be getting a hardtop roof for the S2K. Going at 60 mph onwards with the top down creates a lot of wind resistance, and the hardtop roof on the S2K allows for the wind to create more downforce for the rear. It totally depends on how much money you have for upgrades, but if you want all out, then you might as well have the engine ported and polished (and blueprinted as well), get a turbo kit + intercooler (HKS or Greddy), a turbo timer, a boost controller, slotted/drilled disc brakes (for all four wheels) and four-pot calipers (the Spoon version) for your front brakes."

What car should i get...mazdaspeed 3 or AP2 Honda S2000? Well this will be my seond car. I already have a primary car that can hold up to 7 people. So praciticality isnt much a factor in the decision. I test drove both i like them both. The two contenders are the MS3 and AP2 S2000 The honda S2000 is a very fun to car to drive, imo its the best looking and handles pretty welll however there are blind spots and claustophobia may kick in later. Being rwd traction in rain and snow maybe not so good. The power is all the way up top which can be both good and bad..good in better mpg. Bad....downshift in order to get power. its a honda reliable! mazdaspeed 3 vague shifter is a concern, 2 or more people can fit. Power is avabile throughout the rpm range no need to downshift. FWD better in rain and snow. not much $$ to make faster as oopose to the S2k! I just want your opinon which would make a fun car.

loki3232 replied: "Get a Mitsubishi Evo."

Derek D replied: "Mazda Speed 3. It's safer and more cofortable because claustrophobia and blind spots aren't all that great..."

Stupid Flanders replied: "First of all, you can't go wrong with either in my opinion. Personally, I would lean slightly toward the Mazdaspeed 3. It is just as quick and fun, but also has a practical side that you can't get with the S2000. Secondly, you will likely find that the S2000 will cost more to insure because it is a 2-seater. Reliability will be about equal. Consumer reports raves about the 3, and it is slightly cheaper. When you compare price vs. hp on the Mazdaspeed, it is tough to find more bang for the buck. Let us know which one you decide to go with."

Scotty replied: "You're better off buying a Mazdaspeed 3 instead of a Honda S200 because the S2000 has a very boring look to it, especially the interior of the car. True, FWD is a lot better in snow than RWD, but 4WD/AWD is the best in snow."

UCANTCME replied: "The Honda S2000 will be a better vehicle all around."

Chad D replied: "Get the S2000 because it is a convertible so you can just drop the top and blind spots wont be a problem. I'd take a look at used Corvettes also. They'd be faster than both and would make a proper weekend car. ;) The Mazdaspeed3 is nice, but if you're looking at that then you should test out the Mazdaspeed6. Speaking of Mazda the MX-5 is the benchmark for the roadster category."

realalex1985 replied: "HONDA"

Drive PZEV! replied: "MazdaSpeed 3 is for performance. Honda S2000 is for quality/reliability. Either one is great but I would always go with the Honda."

Paul B replied: "I've test driven both (but I own an AP1). In my opinion, the S2k is a more "fun" car to drive, especially if practicality is not an issue. The downside to the RWD S2k is driving in snow. Snow tires I heard help but how much does it really snow in your area? And when/if it does, you have you 7 seater (I'm assuming an SUV) anyways. I agree that the cost of modding an S2k is a little ridiculous. But to be honest, there's not much more you can do to an S2000 to make a significant difference without going forced induction. We both agreed that the Honda's looks are better. And depending on where you live, to have your choice of top down on a whim (6 seconds) in really nice weather is priceless. The drive in a convertible can be breath taking! The fun is also going through the 6 speed short shifted lever gearbox of the S2k, there's no other tranny that feels as nice and crisp! Arguably the best feeling and most fun gearbox! The MS3 is a little faster and has much more low end torque. It loses a little power after a hot lap, but is still plently fun to drive, minus the mushy and long shifter and soft(er) cornering. The MS3 is just a modified Mazda3, and you see plenty of those. The S2k was built ground up to be an awesome roadster, and it has been for the last 8 years! There is no "base" model. So the S2000 is more rare and imo, more classy and sporty. The F20 and F22 motors have forged internals and fiber reinforced walls and cylinders for less friction, A few other awards/recognition for the S2000 include: * The S2000 was on Car and Driver's Ten Best list for 2000 through 2002 and 2004. * The S2000 was the highest-ranked model in the J.D. Power and Associates Vehicle Dependability Study "Premium Sports Car" class for 2004 and 2006, and has consistently held one of the top three positions. * The F20C engine won the International Engine of the Year award in the "1.8 to 2 litre" size category for five years from 2000 through 2004. * The S2000 ranked number #1 in a BBC Top Gear survey in 2004, 2005, and 2006. The S2000 is a perfect "second" car. I have over 110,000 miles on mine and I just dyno'd it. My results are the same as a brand new S2k on the same dyno! No loss in power, definitely very reliable! But again that's coming from an AP1 owner ;)"

Calling all AP2 Honda S2000 owners!? I'm going to be buying a new 07 AP2 S2000 soon, but I've heard that they dont have a sufficient amount of torque for what they are? What do all you AP2 owners think?

dawheat replied: "You have to drive the car yourself to make that decision. While the AP2 has a better torque curve than the AP1, it is no torque monster. I have no issues in day to day driving and can commute to work fine without revving higher than 4000rpm. On a road course, the lack of torque can be a problem on very slow, very tight turns, but the close gearing minimizes the issue. Otherwise the gearing and high rev limit make it a blast in the twisties or a road course. If you're someone who likes to drag race, then you'll be unhappy with the car as slower cars will give you a good run unless you get your launch perfect (rev to 6K or 7K and dump the clutch). It's hard on your clutch and diff, and you still won't be very fast."

Does Honda S2000 have LSD, and what is the different about AP1 and AP2? I have 2001 S2000 and was wondering if I needed to buy LSD for my car. I also have 350z and it has the DVC system where I can turn on or off and I love it. But what about my s2000? What can I do to fix this problem?

Indiana Jones replied: "http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread/1810860"

Jack replied: "It a RWD + LSD + high-reving engine machine + has red engine start button FTW!! dont follow that link its a 92-95 civic that has a K20 swap with LSD tranny.. only thing S2000 on it is the cluster.."

??? replied: "Try asking the question on a honda forum.."

What is AP1 and AP2 on a honda s2k? honda s2k

Sōichirō Honda replied: "It's the chassis code that Honda and some people use to identify the Honda S2000. The AP1 is the 1999-2003 Honda S2000, and the AP2 is the 2004-2009 Honda S2000. It's also part of the VIN# which should start off as JHMAP1 or JHMAP2."

curiousteen replied: "2000-2003 for AP! 1999 was the production for 2000 s2000 2004-2009 for AP2"

honda s2000 or mx-5 miata? Im looking at both these cars, Im not sure what to get....I like the perfomance and exterior of the honda s2000 but the interior is a bit dated. I like the interior of the mx-5 miata but the perfomance is a bit low. any sugestions on what to do? also im not sure what years to get for these, Right now im comparing the 2006 mazda miata mx-5 3rd generation to the 2004 honda s2000 AP2

e.sillery replied: "Miata... this is the last model year for the S2000... it is the biggest piece of crap Honda ever built."

smithersprime replied: "Both are terrible."

twofortwo replied: "I suggest the Miata. There are dozens of mods available for it to improve performance."

chucksright replied: "the miata has better handling & 50/50 weight distribution."

Stupid Flanders replied: "Both are great cars. The MX-5 is not a low performance car. i think you are just saying that because you are comparing it to the S2K. I would pick the Miata MX-5 simply because the price of the vehicle and the insurance should be lower. You can always beef it up with aftermarket parts if you need to."

me replied: "s2000 the miata is slow and tiny. the s2000 is faster and has better handling it has 50/50 too. and the best part is its a honda so you know its as reliable as the Universe. plus there are plenty of after market parts for it."

which of these 2 cars is more easier to tuned? honda s2000 (ap2) nissan 350z (base) which is more easier to tuned.. you know turbocharger ..fmic..which products have more for these 2 cars?

Callum B replied: "in my opinon ...the 350Z will be easier to work on and 'tune' but nothing mechanically will beat a honda engine"

gary o replied: "Honda by a long shot"

johnelwayfan_7 replied: "i've never worked on either of these but if i was in your position, i would go with the honda, parts are probably a little cheaper and honda engines will run forever if you take care of it"

Tristan S replied: "They're about equal overall as far as ease of tuning goes. It really depends on what sort of performance you want in the end. The VQ35DE engine in the 350z is a GREAT engine... one of my favorites... killer low-end torque, extremely reliable, and definitely tunable. Most Japanese tuning companies make tuning parts for it, and you can find a good number of tuning kits, too. But my allegiance lies with the S2000 - I own one, and the reason I own one is because it is IMHO the best tuner car out there. The F22C is an awesome engine - the redline on the 2.2 liter is about 8k RPM, which is amazing, and there are a variety of parts out there that will let you push that redline a bit further up (I have an AP1, which redlines at 9k). Turboing an S2000 produces one of the most awesome cars on the face of the earth. The S2000 handles better and weighs 800lbs less, so putting all that extra power into the S2000 means that you are doing some CRAZY awesome stuff!"

Honda S2000 AP1. What does the AP1 stand for? And what does AP2 stand for?

n0ti5 replied: "AP1 is the chassis code for the first generation S2000 from 2000-2003. AP2 is the chassis code for the second gen from 2004- now. It just the chassis code like the 84-87 Toyota Corolla GTS is AE86, or the 92-95 Honda Civic Si-R is EG6. Hope this helps. *edit- thanks dude fixed"

Tristan S replied: "The above guy is correct, AP1 is the chassis code, just like how on a 240sx there's S13, S14, S15, etc. or on a Civic you've got EF, EK, EG, etc. He had a typo though... the 2004+ is the AP2. They're basically the same car, though the suspension is different (AP2 rides a bit softer) and the AP2 has a higher-displacement engine (2.2 liters instead of 2.0) with a lower redline. The front and rear bumpers and lights are different, too. I prefer the AP1. Granted, I do own one... but hey."

honda fit and S2K? im eventually getting both of these cars. my question is in the mag, modified mag, january 08, the red fit, was that base or sport model/trim? and in the fast and the furious movie, where can i get a body kit like the one one jonny tran's s2k and also what year was that s2k(ap1 or ap2)

Singh replied: "yes"

Paul S replied: "if i were you id get a body kit like suki's from 2fast2furious i dunno where u can get a body kit like trans or suki's but i say go for Sukis If u cant find it on the internet go to ur closest place where they hot up cars Trans S2k was from the year 2000 AP1"

which one of these cars it's more easier to tuned? honda s2000 (ap2) nissan 350z (base) which is more easier to tuned.. you know turbocharger ..fmic..which products have more for these 2 cars?

Chace M replied: "the easiest one to tune would be the 350z..... The s2000 is smaller and also harder to work on. The 350z also has a bigger motor and that would make it faster. The s2000 is not as versatile in the aftermarket scene. The 350z would also be cheaper because more people have them than the s2000. Nissan is a better quality car. S2000 is a throwaway car. they are slower, don't handle as good, and are harder to find parts for."

♣[JDM_HERO]™ ♣ replied: "i would naturally go for the honda s2000 but 350z is nice. "S2000 is an "Initial D" car and 350z is not." Model=HP / Price / lbs per horsepower/hp per cylinder/hp per liter Honda S2000=237 / $34000 / 11.9/ 59.25/118.5 Nissan 350Z=315 / $42000 / 10.6/ 52.50/90"

lemuuu replied: "Both of these cars have turbo kits available, can both push down good numbers, and the S2000 has a bit of an edge in handling capabilities. The S2000 is 500 lbs lighter, and has a lower center of gravity allowing it to hug curves better. The 350Z with its larger engine will definitely pack more punch however... For the same amount of money these 2 cars can be modified and tuned very similarly for a track and street oriented perspective, with handling more focused and precise on the S2000, drag and straight line the 350 has a bit of an edge."
