how many egr sensors are on 2001 ford ranger edge 4.0 i changed out one egr valve are they any more? my check engine lights on and a mechanic scaned it and it came up egr excessive flow i put one egr valve on it and my check engine light came on again for the same thing

completelyparts.webs.com replied: "nope, only one egr valve per car. You may be looking at an oxygen sensor issue as well. Are you getting a check engine light or trouble light in your car?"

Iseedeadpeople replied: "i have a ford explorer with the same exact engine and i recently replaced my egr valve and there is only one egr valve."

Tex G replied: "There are Electric hook to the egr. A egr is not always the cause for this code. The electric part can be bad as well as the valve that bolt to the engine. It sound like you need go to the dealership Were they have the proper tool called a brake out box. To run down the problem. Such as a short. It could be a stop up vvacuuml ine or a hole in one. I am assuming you replace the metal valve. If not that what control the flow. It could be cause by aVacccum not hooked up right. Or the check valve is put in the line backward. If I was there I could work it out"

speeddemon_747 replied: "Most likely the DPFE sensor. Oxygen sensors wont cause this code!!!"

Martinmm replied: "you must reset the computer when you installed the new part.codes for what is wrong are just a reference , not the exact part will always be the fault"

Al replied: "EGR (exhaust gas recirculate), only one per engine. You may have other engine trouble. Try clean the code by removing the negative battery terminal for at least 10 minutes and see if the light go away or you may need OBDII scanner to clear the trouble code. Although, the problem should have go away if you fixed the problem."

144289 replied: "Usually with Ford, egr flow is usually the DPFE sensor"

thtanoyinguy replied: "only one egr and dpfe sensor...if you replaced the egr then next you would want to inspect the vacuum lines to the dpfe and then replace it."

where is the egr sensor on the 2.3L 2001 ford ranger? I found the EGR valve. but cant find the sensor location.

144289 replied: "Follow the egr tube, come across 2 small hoses, then follow the hose to the egr sensor"

art warrington replied: "its on the back bulkhead and as the little vac pipes running from it, by the way if you block the egr valve off at the manifold you will get more power the engine will run cleaner and over the weeks as the crap that's built up get blown out the motor will start to fly, also no more black smoke."

i dont know what is going on (2001 ford ranger 4.0 auto)? ok about a moth ago my check eng. light came on and it said it was a egr valve prob. and my truck has been a little slugish. now all the sudden the light went out and my truck is running better and seems alot faster. i dont know what is going on. it shifts at higher rps than it ever had. what is going on, should i be woried i do have a cut vac. line but my tuck is so much more responceive and put me back in the seat more

FIAT Guy replied: "It sounds like an electrical problem but to be on the safe side go to auto zone and ran a scan with an OBD-ll scanner to see if any code show up, that's a good start, by the way check for loose wires and loose or damage vacuum hoses. Good Luck and GOD Bless"

schampoo2002 replied: "replace that vacuum line it is vital in the proper running of your truck"

kayef57 replied: "Egr valve either got stuck or the sensor that reads it (dpfe) sensor got shorted out."
