How to get better gas mileage in my Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V? How can I get better gas mileage in my Sentra SE-R Spec V? It is a Six-Speed Manual and the only modification I have is a Weapon R Dragon Short Ram Intake, it did come with the plastic shield that can go over it, but I did not put that on. Any suggestions to get better gas mileage? I mean anything.

Bubba B replied: "Free flowing exhaust system."

James replied: "wear a condom!"

aaron.forr replied: "there are a lot of techniques to help save gas. check out the source link..."

Nikki replied: "dont run ac/heater as much"

james p replied: "the easiest thing would be to shift a bit earlier. the longer you are in the lower gears, 1st 2nd 3rd 4th, the more fuel you will use. in the spec v, the 5th and 6th gears are what are considered "driving gears" or "cruising gears" as they are made more for over 50mph driving than for building speed. while your first 4 gears are made to get you up to speed. also make sure your tires are inflated properly once a month, the door jam will tell you the PSI (normally 32 psi for most cars) and be easy on the accelerator, on newer model cars, turning off the air conditioner doesnt save a whole lot of fuel, it just makes a person uncomfortable. since the spec v came out in 2002 i believe I dont think being hot by turning off the a/c will benefit you. also at highway speeds if youhave the windows down, that will cause more drag and decrease your fuel efficiency"

2002 Nissan Sentra Spec-R Smoking Question? I have a 2002 Nissan Sentra Spec-R with 110,000 miles on it. The car runs perfectly except with one issue. When I rev it up, deep black smoke comes out the exhaust. When its idle its fine. The more I rev, the more smoke I get. Any ideas?

PHX Hearse replied: "Sounds like you're burning oil."

About how much would it cost to put in a turbo onto a 2002 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V? I just recently bought one and as my brother's being such car enthusiasts, i myself am beginning to become one. And everytime i'm riding their cars and that turbo begins pulling it, i just love the feeling and wish i could have it in mine, however they have engine's SR20DEts engines that arleady come with turbo believe, so its a little different.

GOBBLE THIS replied: "Depends on what you want."

John Paul replied: "A stock 2.5 liter motor can crank out 200 hp at the wheels easy enough with out turbocharging. There are not many options for your car with front wheel drive. Torque steer and other issues like turbocharger heat melting the cooling fans. * year old motor will need rebuilding with low compression pistons and just remember a Turbo Kit is just a kit until you do all the engineering to make it work."

hondab16tuner replied: "to properly do it running 7-8 psi of boost, which is keeping your internals stock, you will be in the neighborhood of around $5,000 installed. "

JaCkIeOhMyGoSh replied: "John Paul is correct and Hondab 16 guy is in the ball park at $5000 to get one. Sale the car you just got and get a turbo charged neon instead. They are the quickest car at the cheapest price"

vermaizcool replied: "you can put a turbo for a $1000, a good one atleast which should spit out around 220+ Horsepower. you'll also need an intercooler cause your car will then run for 3 minutes then the engine will overheat."

Fam0us..G0T INK? replied: "everyone that answered knows NOTHING. I own a 2006 Spec V...a turbo kit, sold by treadstone with a turbonetics turbocharger goes for 3k...not 5k...a turbokit for a spec v will put you at 280-300 bhp depending on psi...280 whp is ideal for running 6-7 psi...if you want real performance from it,drop a 3.5 VQ from altima, maxima or murano...the block itself gives you 270 bhp, with a single turbo kit you're looking at 400+ total bhp...the VQ is a direct fit,you only need ECU and motor mounts."

Mick replied: "You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here - carinsurance.yoll.net"

How much should I sell my Nissan SE-R Spec V for? its a 6 speed, sunroof, 57,000 miles, great shape no dents/rust, clean title, 4 new tires, black, 17" rims... what do you think kelly blue book says like 13000...which nobody would ever pay fleckins, your a fleckin idiot....6500 my ass. it doesnt have a fart can muffler asshole

duce replied: "KBB.com is your friend"

fleckenstien replied: "first off, take off the fartcan and spoiler and just go ahead and call it a sentra. Ricers are dying anyway, so a "fast" frount wheel drive car is nothing special these days. Your right, no one would pay 13000 for one when they could get a new one for 15,000. just market it as an economy car and don't try to make it sound cool or anything and people will be all over it. Id say about 6500 would be a good price. Good Luck!"

Chan316 replied: "Yeah i do agree Fleckens is an idiot i only wonder what he drive. But back to your question here me i would personally keep this car's image immaculate exterior and interior wise. Lil things you could add without having to budget your bank account. One would be painting you calipers red they'll go nicely with black rims. Two you might want to drop it a lil and i mean a lil not to go out and slam it. Just some thought good luck..."

Yeaux replied: "what year? maybe i overlooked that.... i bought mine for 13000 but it was a 2006, 39k, and had a fart can with no resonator (got that changed to a Apexi ws2 catback, thank God) presuming its like 2004, you should ask for 12k, and see where haggling gets you from there. hope i helped. btw, why are you selling the car? any problems over 50k?"

joesperformance2 replied: "Don't bother with KKB. Those prices are over inflated and let's you think your car is worth more than it actually is and dealerships don't use them. Go to a book store and find an NADA Guides book and look it up. You will get the most accurate price range there. There is also a book called the "Black Book" but only delaerships have them. I know because I worked for a dealership. They have the actual trade in values. That's why they offer you much less for them when you want to trade them in."

3 Dayy ago I bought a 2004 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec v with 50,000 miles on it from a dealership and now the? check engine light just came on. I had it scaned and it came up to be code P2135, something about the throttle. Anyway I bought it from a dealership, what is the law in New york over a matter like this?

Alex A replied: "throttle position sensor mostly everything associated with the check engine light is always sensors. the nissan is still a good car."

eaglefox200 replied: "Most used cars at that mileage are bought "As-Is" so basically the car is yours including any concerns that come up. If your dealer is a good dealer (i.e. treats customers well) they will have it checked out and repaired for you for free or at a good discount."

dependable_employee replied: "That's really not that big a deal, if you have any friends that are (real) mechanics (as in not the fake wanabe kind) then ask them to help you fix it on a weekend (a good test to see if they are a real or fake mechanic is if they have a scan tool of their own). Else take it to a shop, it will probably run you about $100."

I have an 07 nissan sentra se-r spec v, when would i shift gears to go quicker faster? i just bought this, this is my first manual car, and if you have any other tips. like how much would a short shift cost me? or any other advice i'd appreciate it.

Drew D. replied: "As far as a short shifter goes i'd say about $100 to $200. So when it comes to shifting to go fast, a good rule of thumb would be shifting right at your redline, try not to go over unless you have a proper tune. I driven cars with that transmission and motor and it seem that all the power is in the higher RPM, so shift at redline, not past it though. Your car wont be very fast if it's in the shop."

bluebirdser replied: "Well if this is your first manual I suggest perfecting driving it before a short shifter. I've driven the new spec-v and the shifter is pretty good already. Now as far as shift points well this being the revised 2.5 motor I do know the Torque curve has been bumped up to 4,000 RPM being the max torque point. So it's fair to say Hold that gas down till 6,800 and Shift like you never shifted before!!! Eventually do this with out letting go of the gas!! Just pound it shift a little sooner "like 6,500" throw it to the next gear and listen to your tires Squeil !!!!!! You may even get that 3rd gear "chirp" :)"

If I hooked up a small amp to the factory speakers in my 2004 Nissan Sentra SE-R spec v? would the speakers be able to handle it or would it blow the speakers. They are factory speakers but it is a 9 speaker rockford fosgate factory system which even comes with a subwoofer in the trunk. Or should I just upgrade the speakers and hook up a more powerful amp. Either way, please tell me what amp would be a good fit for it.

John G replied: "i would just go get a cheap 200 watt amp from walmart for 50..00 its called the VR3 AMP and its a mini amp so you can hide it under the seat but dont get to powerful or u will blow the amp i would just get the 200 watt amp and tie into it with the speakers just to give it a little boost"

Insurance for a 2007 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V? I've been wondering how much insurance would cost for a 2007 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V for a 16 year old as the main driver, but I don't want to send my information to an insurer for a quote and possibly get unwanted solicitaions from them. Does anyone have any idea? Oh, and would it be different for a 17 year old?

AMenKes replied: "It's really going to depend on driving record, which I'm guessing a16 year old doesn't have much of. I know some insurance companies, like State Farm, have programs that reduce the rate for young drivers. These programs include good grade discounts and 6-12 week programs where you fill out information on your drives and then talk to the agent. There won't be much if any difference between a 16 and 17 year old with the same driving record because there's not a lot of improvement there. The big drops are 21, 25, marriage, etc. My suggestion is to set up an email account just for your quotes and then go to a site like netquotes.com and request a quote. Then you can get all of the solicitations in an e-mail you will use only for this."

italy_coolfun replied: "Unfortunately, nobody here will be able to tell you. You need to go to a local insurance agent. It all depends on location, coverage, age, experience, etc."

Can I connect my Stock Sub to aftermarket pioneer deck in 02 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V? I just went to best buy and the guy that does the work said that there is no way that he can get my stock subwoofer to work with any aftermarket deck that they have in the store. I was just wondering if there is anyway to make it work and if so, how?

inktownlegend replied: "go to a car audio shop STAY AWAY FROM THE BIG BOX STORES best buy and circuit city do bad installs, know nothing about car audio, or the products, and they get hired off the street with no real experience (2 installs in their driveway)"
