What is the max. speed & 0 - 60 time of the new Subaru Impreza WRX sti? I don't intend to drive at high speeds in this car but it's good to know that I have something more valuable under the hood. Should I buy this, or a Mitsubishi Evo X?

retired gentleman replied: "2457cc 296bhp @6,000 revs 27.4 mpg 0-60 5.2 sec 155 mph top speed.."

james u replied: "the car in the pic is a 06-07 model. 4.8 sec is what ive seen every where ive read. 04-07 make 300hp and the 08-09 makes 305."

fatrab replied: "Have you driven them both yet? If not, when you test drive the impreza listen for the creaks groans and rattles from the dash, especially if its a cold morning. Honestly, they're awful. I've been a Subaru man for the last 11 years and my current one will be my last. Unless you really dont like the drive in the Mitsu I dont think you'll buy the Impreza when you have driven them both. 0-60 is sub 5 seconds in both cars, but that doesnt make either car worth buying unless you are only intending to use them on a track. Drive, build quality and looks go to the Mitsubishi in my book! Good luck with your new car when you get it!"

What is the 0-60 time for a 2006 Subaru Impreza? The 2.5l, not a WRX or an STi. Also, what is it's top speed?

Mike replied: "8.7 and 135"

JOHN G replied: "5.2 secs and about 142mph the other guys must have been slow"

if u aint first ur last replied: "About 8 seconds 0-60 and about 135 top speed."

5MT vs 6MT Subaru Impreza STI? Hi I will swap my 05 Impreza GX to STI I have option between two engines : 1- engine model is (2000) 2.0 , 5 speed MT ( 300 HP ) (Japanese Engine) 2- engine model is (2006) 2.5 , 6 Speed MT (From Japan) Which one is better ? What the diffrence between the 5 and the 6 speed ? what is the top speed and the 0-60 for the 5 and the 6 speed ? can i put 6 Speed GearBox on the 2000 (2.0) ? or the 5 speed is good ? and thank you

I <3 my Suby. replied: "The 2.5 from Japan must be a Forester STI because the Impreza STI does not come in a 2.0. Any case, they will both bolt up just fine but if you are just changing the tranny, you will need a new driveshaft too. The 6 speed is a pretty indestructible unit and can take loads of power and abuse. The 5 speeds, even from the older STI's were not very strong so if you are into modding or tracking I would go with the 6 speed. But again, it depends on how much you are swapping, If you are looking to just change the tranny and nothing else, the 5 speed will be more straight forward and easier."

Adrianek replied: "The 2006 engine because it's much newer and you have 6 speed manual which is faster."

Ezra replied: "Contrary to what Adrianek said, the 6 speed will make your car a wee bit slower, you have one more gear to grab before 60 MPH."

2006 Subaru Impreza 2.0R vs. 2006 Acura RSX (Base Model)? Hey, I'm 15 turning 16 in 2 months and I was wondering what car is better; a 2006 Subaru Impreza 2.0R (not WRX or STi) or a 2006 Acura RSX (not Type-S)? Which car has more hp, more torque, better 0-60 time etc...(which car is faster). Also which car gets better gas mileage? Which car in your opinion looks better and which one would you pick if you were me. Thanks for the answers, JJ

butterlocc replied: "both cars are good... but if u want a suby its better at least a wrx model, ive never really been a good fan of acuras so i cant say anyting on the acura i just know its front wheel drive, that has its ups and downs... good reason to get the suby, is its fuel efficient and of course the >>> awd <<<"

Don replied: "Acura looks better easier to drive hard the Subaru attracts a lot of unwanted attention, cops, car thieves."

What car is faster the Saturn Sky or the Pontiac Solstice? They both look alike! LOL Anyway, I was wondering what car is the fastest? What's the top speed on both of them and what about its 0 to 60 mph time? Can either of these beat a Subaru Impreza WRX STI?

Spike H replied: "Im not sure but subaru makes fast cars."

ivtecpakiness83 replied: "these 2 cars are not so not faster then a wrx sti.. the saturn sky and pontiac solstice look alike because they are pretty much the same car, they share the same engine they just have different badges the regular model sky and solstice came with 177hp and 170lb ft of torque < not so fast 0-60 in 7.7 seconds the sky red line and solstice gxp came with a turbocharged engine with 260hp and 260lb ft of torque< 0-60 in 5.5 seconds fast but not faster then a wrx sti wrx sti does 0-60 in about 4.5 to 4.7 seconds"

pimmerdas2 replied: "they both suck and the solstice is faster if you get them both on a curvy road"

C7S replied: "Both have exactly the same performance because the only difference between the two cars is the design or the exterior and interior. Same engines and power. 0-60mph in 7.6 seconds. Top Speed is around 140mph, but is probably limited to 130mph because they are convertibles. Saturn Sky Redline and Solstice GXP have nearly 300HP and such light weight that the 0-60mph is in 5.5 seconds and top speed is 155mph. WRX STI 0-60mph in 4.8 seconds for 2004-2009 models. 155mph limited top speed. No way they can beat the STI."

07 sti vs 08 mustang gt? i own a 2007 subaru impreza wrx sti and im into racing. so far ive only upgraded to a cold air intake and larger exhaust system. according to an article i read those upgrades added about 20hp and some perdy good torqe. anyway this kid has a mustang gt with a short shifter and aftermarket exhaust... he seems to think he can kill my car no problem bottom end and top. what i need is stats on each vehicle. i want 0-60 times, hp, and torqe specs on each. a cookie for the first one to find me these! =)

4wheeler nut replied: "Race the kid and stomp him badly then the rest dosn't matter does it."

Ryan replied: "Look at the important things... You're car is AWD if I'm correct (bmw guy), and much lighter. He's driving a rwd titanic. My cousin rented a mustang gt, and was sorely disappointed. You should take the lead right off the line, then it'll probably come down to driver skill. He's got more HP and Torque. By the way, the cold air intakes and exhaust typically add horsepower at the redline, and right before it. To complement those upgrades, look to upgrade your chip. By changing the stock chips configurations, the extra air flow created by your upgrades will greatly affect the lower and mid range RPMs. The guys at Speed Tuning USA flashed my chip for me. I had a K&N intake that added 9 hp at 5800. With their chip, they pushed my car up from 190 hp and 207 ft lbs of torque, up to 217hp and 230 ft lbs. It most noticeably affected the mid range, which is where most cars lag. Hope that helps, I hate mustangs."

C7S replied: "The Subaru is definately faster in every way and it handles two times better than the Mustang GT. Modifications to American cars do not affect the power or speed as much as smaller, lighter Japanese or European cars. The Subaru STI is in a different class than the Mustang GT. The STI is even faster than the Mustang GT500 Shelby in acceleration and handling, but not top speed. The Subaru is lighter and more aerodynamic and it has AWD and a turbocharger, which makes it accelerate faster. The stock times for the cars are: Subaru STI: 287HP Turbocharged 4 cylinder. 0-60 in 4.8 seconds. Top speed 155mph. Mustang GT: 300HP V8 0-60 in 5.2 seconds. Top speed 146mph. With the modifications it should be: Subaru STI: 307HP Turbocharged 4 cylinder 0-60 in 4.6 seconds. Top speed 160mph. Mustang GT: 310HP V8 0-60 in 5.1 seconds. Top speed 148mph."

questions about the subaru impreza 2.5i? alright so im about to get out of iraq and back to the states in about a month and im thinkin of buying a 2.5i. for what ever reason their website wont load up out here but from the pictures ive seen and the reviews ive read it is a very sweet ride. my questions are: they dont come stock with turbos but are the internals in the boxer engine the same as a wrx/sti? if the internals must b changed out, whats an estimate a sports shop might charge me on doing the work? are there alot of bolt on upgrades (headers, undrive pulley kit, cold air intakes, ext.) available for the 2.5i? ive heard a rumor that subaru is giving 5grand back to soldiers who have deployed, true? what does the car do in the 1/4 and 0-60? does the car have a govner on it? yup thats bout it, donut for ever can answer the most of my questions :-P

vani s replied: "check this link its good ."

lastnightinmyhead replied: "1) No. 2) The blocks are different. An STi sb costs ~1700, WRX sb ~1600. Even if you go the route of forged internals in the 2.5i block, the block itself is different, plus this route costs more, a lot more once you add in everything else. 3) Not really. 4) Possibly. While I've never heard of this from foreign manufacturers, I have heard of it from GM & Ford. 5) 0-60 7.9 sec,1/4 16sec 6) For WRX, 144. For 2.5i, no clue, but probably the same, although I imagine it's drag limited before then. 7) Okay, there wasn't another one, but if you're going to mod a 2.5i, why not just get a WRX or even STi? A couple grand more, and it's a much better starting platform for power mods...."

Deadhead Neil replied: "You may want to consider a Legacy Spec B. I drove one for a few months and wow....what a ride. Already set for racing, but a good day to day car. More room and a little more tame than a WRX sti."

Rich replied: "The 2.5i and wrx come with an open deck block(thin cylinder walls) with decent internals, obviously the internals will differ between the "i" and wrx. Where the STI has a semi-closed deck block, thicker walls, and an entirely different head, tranny, suspension, etc. Don't waste your money on boosting a 2.5i, no one really ever does it because they block can only handle ~6-8 psi. You're way better off paying the extra money for a wrx. Or if you get an "i" without warranty, do a motor swap with an STI(EJ257 USDM). All of the parts you listed should be on the market, but will give you very minimal power gains. It will just sound louder and suck more gas. I've never heard of that. 1/4 mile for the "i"...... Im guessing mid to high 15's. 0-60 no idea. Yes."

Think you have a sleeper car? I have a '02 VW beetle Turbo S. And i have to say that this car is quite the sleeper. Very, very quick has great handling and gets off the line better than alot of cars out there especially stock cars. At the track this car does 0-60 in 6.9. Ive beaten the likes of grand prix gtp's and ford taurus SHO's, and lets not forget those little honda rice burners i can take in 1st without even trying. Ive beaten eclipse gt's and tiburons with little difficulty. ive even kept...lost but kept up...with a subaru impreza wrx..not the sti. And mt car is stock with 180hp turbo engine. by the end of summer this car will have over 250hp....evo's here i come. the avg of my 1/4 times is 14.9 sec with the fastest being 14.8. and i know its doesnt mean anything to be able to keep up but come on a beetle keep up with a wrx thats saying alot. and ive done both track and street races. I tend not to try and get street races that often, atleast I dont initiate, i know what i have and i have nothing to prove. the only time that i usually race on the street is one some punk who thinks he has a fast car revs his engine and talks smack i hate that stuff .... the race against the gtp and the sho were on the track in a 1/4mi race

Moose replied: "Ok, so you go 0-60 in 6.9, but you didn't give your 1/4 mile time. Lots of cars can do 0-60 in 6.9. And keeping up with a car doesn't mean a thing to a racer. They don't give prize money to the guy who "kept up with" the winner. Not to mention, were all your races at the track, or were they street races where the other guy didn't know you were racing or didn't want to race? Not to take away from your car, they are pretty quick, but racing is not all car. I've seen quite a few kids with fast cars get beaten by racers in pick-ups. So let's see the 1/4 mile times and we can compare. And what they heck, maybe we'll even meet at the track someday. Edit: For stock, that isn't bad. My '90 Eclipse GSX ran 14.3 @ 94.92 mph. Stock. Good luck with the EVOs, as I've seen them run into the 8 second range."

Mark C replied: "You said the key words, turbo and VW. Light body with a turbo engine. Yes you would defninately beat these other cars because of power to weight ratio. I had a tricked out Saturn SL2 once that could take 92RS Camaro (305 V8) and a whole lot of Hondas. I never clocked it like you have but had a whole lot of fun with the car. Reprogrammed ECM and Flowmaster exhaust with Bosh Platinum two spark plugs, Zoot performance clutch. Sound simple? You bet, that was the beauty of it. Sleeper is just that, wake it up when it is time to come off the line."

Whats a good option for a CHEAP fairly fast car (Used) and moderately reliable? *****Note: Alot of information, try to atleast read most of it****** Hello all, I have once again been looking around on the internet (again) for some nice cheap cars I may be able to buy in the near (or far) future. I currently drive a 04 Hyundai Tiburon GT, it is really lacking on the performance side of things, but its appearance is utterly flawless (aside from some minor scratches and paint chips from rocks). It has been a good car, but I know it won't last forever, plus as stated its fairly slow so I would either like a 2nd car or to replace it all together. The tiburon is a V6 172hp 130ish ft lb torque low output car. 2 door, leather seats with a moon roof, Infinity sound system, 15' scraped rims (previous owner couldn't drive), and plastic interior. I am going through out this tiburon rundown so you understand it IS a good car, but for the next one I want something better. Now for my living area and activities. As for location, I live in a small town in West Virginia (no, i'm not a hillbilly, but there all around), and as I suppose most people know WV is known as "The Mountain State." This is a literal statement, out roads are 85% narrow winding paths converted from old Wagon roads (what my father has Always told me). Weather conditions vary during the year, from desert drought, to floods, ending in blizzards. Myself, I rarely do anything other than go to college come home and occasionally go around to the few stores with my friend, thats car-related activities, and a job most likley by the time I actually get the new used car. My main wants for a car are a high output motor with decent horsepower, very responsive controlls, nice torque for a nice gas-to-engine feel, and it has to be an okay car stock AKA runs nice with no aftermarkets, although I may add some eventually. Appearance isn't very concerning to me, but there's a point that won't be passed. The cars uses will be ofcorse the average every day erands and trips, along with possibly some racing if they open a track up, if its built for it maybe some off-road rally racing, if it AWD/RWD maybe some offroad drifting. Plus just going over the speed limit to show off to myself, no-one else than me. It needs to seat atleast 2, which is done by pretty much every car. My main car wants: 06/08 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 06/08 Subaru Impreza WRX STi 03+ Nissan 350z (any base) Cars I DO NOT WANT: Another Tiburon or anything Hyundai Civic, I know there popular, but I really dislike them Cobalt (I literally loath these) Ford Focus Most other things are fine. As stated earlier, it needs to be fast, faster than my tiburon (134 max, 0-60 in 7 second, that really isn't good) and about the same control. Gas milage isn't much of a concern, just stay around the 18mpg mine does (or better). Chances are I will get multiple people recommending Mustang's, in all honesty I wish I got one instead of my tiburon, my friend has a base model one, he likes it but claims it is extremly hard to control on sharp curves. Now, if you have managed to make it this far I am surprised, it is finally time for a price range. Now, as a price range I cannot be extremly accurate since I do not know when I will/if I will get a car at all. What I expect would have to be -5k if I don't trade my tiburon, 12-14k if I do trade. I look through the "Auto Trader" sales paper that is distributed occasionally, there's a few cars for 1000-3000 that aren't bad, so possibilities are all around me. Thanks greatly to everyone, KingTirant Whats everyones thoughts on a Honda Accord EX coupe? I "like" them, they are obviously dependant being made by honda (200k miles usually). What would be a good price for a 94-02 one in fair/good condition, and how much would it cost to replace some of the frame, front with an acura integra (front lights and bumper), and a rear light swap with either the 02 model (if i cant get an 02) or something that resembles a skyline (matches the front integra). I know the integra front is possible as I have seen it done, but it may be expensive. My main dealings are with the great debate, Import vs. American. I know Imports look better, but they tend to cost more to get up to specs, as with the 2 main americans (camaro/stang) there expensive to ensure. Most of the cars I like from japan are hard to find 350z, 240sx, STi, Evo, etc, and they aren't cheap to get either (350's held its base price for along time). I was thinking of myself and my friend to both get a mustang gt 98+ and have our own little deck-it-out contest. Supercharger, new heads&cams, custom exhaust, and a salem kit for me (maybe cobra fin). Currently i'm paying around $160 per month on insurance, thats pretty much everything on it other than natural disasters (if its ment to be struck by lightning, so be it). I'm thinking it won't spike to over 250 per month with w/e I get aslong as its resonable (no cobra/lambo/ferrari/porche/supra etc.)

ratko v replied: "From the list of the cars you want, the best option should be Subaru, it is fast, quick, reliable, 4 wheel drive (good for WV). The only thing I didn't like on Impreza is the interior room. I'm 6'2'' and nobody could sit behind me. If that doesn't bother you, then this should be "the one". Good luck!"

pinkii replied: "hmm you need to test drive a 2003 to 2008 arrord coupe V6 it sounds like. I just bought an 04 for around 10k with 40k miles on it. most responsive car that I ever drove. I literally burned rubber at a stoplight (no rain) when I was test driving it. at 85 it turns 2.5 grand and the rpms go to 8k if that gives you an idea of the power. I kept mine stock - they come with decent rims and somewhat tinted windows for a clean finish. the v6 models are a little more high class than the regular 4 cyl. mine has a 6 cd changer, remote roll down the windows, just a great car lol wow sorry to promote this so much, i just really love it"

Victor replied: "You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here - carquotes.fateback.com"

AmericanMuscle.com replied: "Considering you need a car that is drivable in all weather conditions a front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive car would be a better choice than a rear-wheel drive car, even though the rear-wheel drive cars tend to do better on the power scale. It is costly and can be difficult to have a daily driver that you also use as any type of race car - that is something you will need to carefully consider as well. Modifications that increase horsepower will decrease gas mileage in addition to decreasing your budget. Insurance on anything considered a "sports car" (camaro, stang, 350Z, etc) is going to be higher than on an Accord, Civic, Altima, etc. I would check out some Subarus, Hondas, Nissan, and even an older BMW could fit your wants/needs."
