Help! I need a wiring diagram for a Volkswagen beetle.? specifically for the ignition and charging system, 12 volt /w points ( not electronic ignition) any yr model between 1970 and 1975. Hope someone can help.

Where is the back-up switch on a 1970 Volkswagen Beetle? ? My wiring diagram simply says "behind the firewall." Will I have to jack up the car to see it? I need to replace the wire.

merlin58 replied: "you are correct! the reverse light switch is activated by the actual move ment of the reverse gear fork , meaning it is located on the transaxle assembly in the front , right on the nose cone/shift selector assy. and is only accessible by jacking up your bug! remember to use jack stands as a safety measure!!!!"

Help on 1966 Volkswagen Beetle? Can anyone give me a wiring diagram of the headlight toggle on my Beetle b.c. i spent all day today rewiring this mess of wires and i finally got to the part for the headlights and its seems that i got something backwards the light toggle, some any help with a wiring diagram or some trouble shooting method would be greatly appreciated, so thanks for you time in advance and yes my battery connections are good and all else is fine on it the only thing presenting a problem are these freaking headlights Thank you very much Chuck for the wiring diagram it help me tremendously! How do you remove a 1972 Volkswagen Super Beetle foam padded dashboard? I have taken off the screws, but completely forgot about the whole wiring scheme with the headlight switch, and the emergency light knob. how do i remove the electrical knobs to remove the dashboard? is there a website with a diagram? we are talking about just the foam pad right? not the entire metal frame, correct? because i mean just the foam pad, so i can have the painted steel underneath it showing, and not the black foam faux leather.

The best answer is replied: "Time for discovery. If your lights are a pull knob(well obviously pulling it off is not the solution otherwise it would be in your hands a few times before now. So that most likely unscrews off or there is a set screw or it is fastened to the headlight switch and there is a button on the switch that releases the shaft. I removed the dash once - it was not worth the effort. The steering wheel has to come off too; and the steering wheel shaft bracket holders and and and and and and you are going to start to ask yourself "Why did I even do this?""
